Hucclecote v Plymouth Marjons (51-29)
Having had 5 weeks off due to last weeks match being postponed to bad weather, Hucclecote were looking forward to blowing off the cobwebs against Marjons.
Hucclecote started the match extremely positively with Carly Taylor having a stormer netting 9 from 9 and Hucclecote defence making life difficult for the Marjon attack. Hucclecote pulled to a 10-3 lead, unfortunately after 8 minutes Carly Taylor had a collision with the Marjon GD and had to be carried off the court. Rhianna Halbrook came on the GS with Michelle Dowle moving to her more comfortable position of GA. Hucclecote remained focussed through the time out and finished off the quarter 15-5 ahead.
The second quarter saw Caroline Bedford and Harriet Pratten coming on at WA and C respectively. Again much as the first quarter Hucclecote dominated the court throughout defensively, but allowed basic errors and ball handling to be loose allowing Marjons to stay in touch.
Having a full squad enabled the centre court to be tested and line-outs to be changed giving players a break in the first game back, which caused some disruption.
Hucclecote continued to dominate through-out but never managed to be decisive in quashing the Marjon team. Jane Hicks also picked up an injury in the last quarter meaning the defence trio needed to be adjusted for the last 5 minutes. Hucclecote finished the game 51-29 victorious, very similar to the last result in the first half of the season.
